I used to use these kinds of products as toys a decade ago with past wives/girlfriends for fun.
This time I'm using it to hopefully help drain the acini in my prostate while on antibiotics. I've had prostatitis since 10/13 and have read thousands of Internet pages this past 10 months. I've seen the urologists several times. Prostate massage seems recommended by a lot of websites.
I'm by myself these days and I can't reach my prostate with my fingers. This is why I bought this item.
I haven't had my prostate fluid tested for bacteria or WBCs. Since I'm back on Levaquin, I decided I'd better make the most of the prostate massage theory while on antibiotics using this device.
Used it twice so far. The burning in the ureathea increases after each use but calms down after 2-3 hours. I hope this is progress.
As far as a quality product, it's a solid 5 Stars as there's nothing wrong with it. It's a smooth hard plastic. I'm 5'10" & 173 lbs. This seems adequate to my own anatomy, however if I bought it again, it may have been a better choice for me to get the version less in diameter.
As far as gratification, by myself, no. With a woman, probably, if the condition clears up.
Update. 10/13/14
As far as prostate health, now after a few months and 8 or so uses, I feel the following actions have helped my prostatitis. I recommend seeing a Physical Therapist at a Urology Office because a lot of prostate problems have to do with the Pelvic Floor in which there are over 22 muscles. In my case, I had a very nice looking woman therapist do an exam, which totally changed how I thought of prostate and pelvic disease problems.
My remedy is the following routine, as needed when the burning in the last 2"-3" of the urethra is past a 4 on a pain scale.
When I feel the burning in the urethra, on a scale above 4, on a pain scale of this nature, I take my Levaquin 500mgs and IBU 800mgs and about 1/2 later, I sit in a sitz bath for about 15 minutes (allowing vascular blood flow to increase) and then use this device just to push fluid from my prostate. Only once I was able to get fluid out of the very end of the urethra. It only takes seconds once you find the prostate and once I've felt I've pushed the fluid as far as I can, I immediately urinate and sit a sitz bath for 10 minutes. Then onto a heating pad for another 1/2 hour.
The burning after doing this for the first 6 times I've done this method (once or twice a week) went from a 4-5 to a 8-10 on a pain scale. But after 2-3 hours the burning, which mentally can be taxing, the burning has always calmed down and goes lower than it was before I started.
After 2 months of doing this, I've got the burning from the prostititis to a 0 (zero) on a majority of the days.
I'm on Leviquin 500mgs (for 90 days) until 11/3/14. Then I'm going to taper down to 250mgs for a month and then let it go. I will use this device again, only when the burning exceeds a 4 on a pain scale and probably do it 2 more times even though theres no burning just to see what happens.
So far, after 2 months of doing this (as I've read over a 1000 pages on the Internet), I'm doing very well. I'm able to use my Lifefitness Recumbent Bike without an increase in burning, which is my only comfortable cardio vascular machine, due to a broken back, that I can use.
I wouldn't do what I've mentioned unless you're on an antibiotic, due to the possibility of sepsis, which can be a life threatening problem, especially if your prostate is really infected and by not having the antibiotic, you could potentially kill yourself. If you release infectious material from the acini in the prostate without being on an antibiotic, depending on your health, you'll be playing the fiddle up in the clouds.
My plan of action was given approval from my Primary Care Physician and further approval as "being on the right course of action" by the good looking Physical Therapist at the Urology Clinic.
It's imperative that you see a Physical Therapist in a Urology Clinic and a physician for the antibiotics, before you try what has worked for me!!!!!
The problem with Western Medicine is that insurance companies wont pay and/or it cost too much money for an individual to have a prostate massage done 1-3 times per week which in a lot of cases is needed. In Eastern Medicine, Prostate Massage for Prostate Problems is a remedy for the problem(s). I mention this because if you're having problems, once again, you need a Physical Therapist to do a exam, which she/he will apply pressure to the various muscles in your pelvic floor, giving you knowledge of you own anatomy which has to be part of a multi-solution for prostate and pelvic disease problems. A physical therapist will show you massages for these muscles.
